Alex Mastoon & Zachary Mastoon met on Myspace in 2006 - seriously. Falling in love in person years later, creative collaborations in Chicago led to the beginnings of Alilfilm Pictures in L.A.

Award-Winning Writer, Director & Editor Alex Mastoon was always creating worlds. From spiral notebook brainstorms and early skate videos in Brooklyn, she graduated to Art Direction on indie films and commercials, working under Michael Bay and Zack Snyder on blockbusters for Paramount, Warner Bros, FX & Nike. Between writing and directing her own shorts and music videos for cutting-edge indie artists - storytelling both on the page and in the editing bay - she is a passionate advocate for women in film, leading groups to educate and uplift diverse voices behind the lens.

Award-Winning Writer, Producer & Composer Zachary Mastoon edited his first silent short with razor blades and tape in 1995, studied jazz improvisation with avant-garde giant Anthony Braxton, and graduated from NYU. He spent a decade on both sides of the camera - including voicing a recurring character on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - and toured internationally as a musician. He returned to video production for a major E-Commerce music retailer, helping iconic brands such as Gibson, Fender, Taylor & Bose tell their story.

Producing internet-breaking content for Red Bull Music Academy together, Alex and Zachary then fused their unique inspirations to produce Word Is Bond: an award-winning, sonic and visual poem about Homophobia in Hip-Hop, which debuted at Outfest Film Festival at Los Angeles’ historic Chinese Theater. I Got The Job, a satirical take on capitalism set to a wild drum & bass soundtrack, was shot in New York City, and Us In Octaves, featuring an all-female and non-binary cast. This award-winning music narrative toured internationally and joined the Sundance-supported Femme Frontera in museums and universities throughout the southwest, picking up awards and nominations in Europe and the States.
